I think this book was my serendipity because I stumbled across it when I was not even expecting it.

It was passed on to me by my mother a day before I was heading for my own vacations and decided to read this one on my flight.
I don’t think I ever had such a joyous plane ride before. This book is about vacationing, and a beautiful retreat, and taking your mind off of things and I don’t think I ever related that strongly with a book a before.
Decisions filled me with excitement and had me looking forward to my trip even more. I know it’s strange but as soon as I landed, I decided to go out of my way to talk to strangers and I know it was the influence of this book.
G.J.C really did a good work with his debut novel. It took me a little time to get a grip of his writing style, but once I did, it was all good.
Let me just appreciate the cover of this book first!

It has that simple yet artistic appeal to it that make many book readers like me pull it off the shelf without even a second thought.
Surprisingly (and fortunately for my pockets) this one was passed on to me by my neighbor. This is perhaps the first book of its kind that I ever read because I’m more of a sci-fi kind of a person.
Nonetheless, I didn’t really mind reading this one and it was definitely worth it!
In fact, I’m thinking of picking up more books that are not all wars and aliens and stuff.
This was a very calming book (and relatable too) with an interesting twist as well. When the main character, James was just enjoying his vacations he suddenly came across a stock slip behind an old picture.
That’s when things became interesting and everything started working out for James. Everything fit very nicely into place at the end and the book left me smiling wide.
People who firmly believe in destiny would love this book

People who firmly believe in destiny would love this book. Decisions by G.J.C, leaves a strong message that when we follow our gut feelings and refuse to follow the crowd, and when we actually let the destiny decide our course, everything works out.
That’s what happened with James, a young high school graduate, who finds himself under the pressure of making some difficult decisions.
Not knowing what to do, or where to head next, James decided to get away to a family cabin where his uncles and aunts live.
Little did he know that this place he was running to was actually calling him towards his future! James learned the value of family, true friends and some beautiful strangers in this charming little place.
I really loved the direction in which this book went, positive, bright and refreshing.
Decisions by G.J.C. turned out to be something I was absolutely not expecting.

To be very honest, I was not expecting much in the first place, perhaps because I didn’t read up on the author, or went through the synopsis of the book. Decisions, was just passed on to me by my friend and having nothing better to do, I started reading it.
It started out okay, just a story about a young high school graduate who goes on a vacation to his family cabin.
However, as I read on and got to know the characters better, it began to catch my interest. Before I knew it, I was flipping over the last page and was left up craving for more.
The story was sweet and cute and despite being completely non-dramatic, it would hook you to it.
Decisions, is a great debut novel by G.J.C and I must say, I’m impressed.

It’s really hard to put your first story in writing and to radiate as much positivity as this author had. There were some strong points of the book and some weaker ones.
Pros
The plot of the story was very realistic.
The storyline had a very strong message
Lovely characters
Great character building
The beautiful setting of the book
Short read
Fast paced
Cons
There was only one downside of the book, and it was the writing style. It was a little-mixed.
Other than that, I fell in love with the story of James and his interesting choice of retreat. It reminded me of some of the travel literature books I had read. The way the author describes James’ first night in the cabin, and that feeling of being far away from home.
I love it

Reading this book made me want to pack my bags, get in my car and drive away to a homely little wooden cabin beside a river. Oh, and if I get some awesome, party-loving neighbours then that would be great.
This book was adorable to read. I know adorable is not a word often used to describe books, but that’s how I felt. Decisions by G.J.C., is a very cute story of a boy who headed to his family cabin for the summers and suddenly found himself amongst a loving family.
He was also able to unearth a stock slip from the old house and that ended up changing everything. I know real life is not that happening, but that’s the reason I read books in the first place.
I really commend the author for writing such an optimist book that gave me hope about my own future plans.
Wonderful book!!!!

I just finished this book last night and here I am reviewing it.
Let’s begin with the characters. I really liked James and the way he changed little by little throughout the book.
My second favorite character was that of the Granny, perhaps because she reminded me of my own. She was really sassy at times, and would get beyond excited at the littlest of things and had that comforting aura to her. The author deserves kudos for portraying these characters so finely and building them up as the story progresses.
The story line was interesting as well. It was simple, but engaging and meaningful. It talked about the issues most young graduates face regarding the choice of their career.
The writing style of the author however was a bit different. The conversation jumped from one character to another rapidly and it was confusing to keep track.
Other than that, the book was amazing.
I loved it!!!!!!

Heading to the family cabin on the day of his high school graduation was more of an escape for James than anything else. Spending his entire summer with his two uncles and an aunt wasn’t exactly his idea of vacations.
But he needed some time away from home to think about his future plans, and the family cabin was the only option he had.
He never realized that he’d find the family cabin so utterly peaceful and serene, and it would give him the break he so badly needed.
I will not tell more about this book or I’d end up spoiling it.
But I would mention that this book brought me as much peace, as the family cabin brought to James.
G.J.C’s description of a calm and serene setting of the cabin and its surrounding gave me warm and fuzzy feelings the whole time. I really liked this book and I am glad that I got a chance to read it.
The best book!!!!!!

One of the reasons I love reading books is because it takes me on journeys that perhaps I would never get a chance to embark on in real life. This was exactly one of those books. I felt like I went with James to a cool family cabin where I ended up finding my own kind of crowd. Not just that, but everything in my life also suddenly fell in line.
After reading this book, I also begin to value the people around me more. Characters in books are much more expressive than people in real life, but that doesn’t mean we are not surrounded by our very own special crowd.
The author G.J.C. did an amazing job by creating such a vivid picture in my mind with his imaginative and descriptive writing style. The book emanates good vibes that it automatically puts you in a better mood. I’d love to read more books by this author and would definitely recommend everyone to do the same too.
Kudos to the author for portraying a different picture of a teenager!

Kudos to the author for portraying a different picture of a teenager! Most young adult books show that teenage students are all about partying, and drinking, and just wasting time. I don’t mind reading about these issues since they are a part and parcel of teenage years but it was just getting boring.
This was one of the few books I have ever read that showed a teenage boy who actually had more important things on his mind, and wasn’t rebellious at all. Of course, he made friends too and attended parties, but it wasn’t anything wild. Adults were portrayed equally nicely as well. No evil parents (just concerned ones) and no scheming seething cousins.
G.J.C proved that one can carry a nice story without adding unnecessary drama, or any sort of love triangles. I liked this book immensely and hope that the author would continue to write in the same spirit.
Amazing book

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Decisions by G.J.C and found it quite entertaining. Granted, that it was a bit formulaic and the story went exactly where I thought it would go, but then I read loads of books.
This is the kind of book that sometimes becomes necessary to have in your life. If you are feeling particularly bleak, or still dealing with hangovers of reading a darker book, then I’d suggest picking up this one.
It is a dose of happiness with positive vibes all around. Not realistic, but it is a fictional book and can get away with it. Also, I read it along with my teenage niece and she found the book ‘cute’.
Another great point of this book includes a fast-paced plot that never. Other than that, I also loved the picturesque setting of the story. In my opinion, a book instantly becomes ten times more appealing when it is happening in a beautiful place.
I’d rather they wait and discover their dreams than do something they don’t want to do. And that’s
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 7 years ago
I always appreciate authors who dare to touch on subjects that are less talked about; the real issues. I am a high school counsellor and I cannot count the number of times students have come to me worried about their future because they haven’t discovered their dreams yet.
As a result of constant pressure from parents and teachers they end up doing something they don’t even love, and sadly, would continue to do so for the rest of their lives.
I’d rather they wait and discover their dreams than do something they don’t want to do. And that’s exactly what G.J.C tried to preach in Decisions.
The story of the book might not be extraordinary but the message that is conveyed in it definitely is. Not that this book teaches you to just wait, it teaches you to value the time you have now and your dreams will eventually come to you. I’d give this book five-stars.
Decisions, is perhaps the first young adult book that I found different.

There were no typical dialogues, no overly dramatic characters, and no unrealistic situations. The story was as real as it could get, without being boring.
The first thing I liked in this book was the setting. I have a weakness for stories set in picturesque backgrounds and this book was exactly it. I felt as if I escaped right along with James into the beautiful house beside the lakes.
And then there was the beautiful family of James who helped him to discover his own path. In this stunning retreat, James also became friends with some of the best people there.
It’s a very realistic tale of finding yourself when you travel away from home and meet strangers that become closer than family.
G.J.C brought to live a very sweet and engaging story about a teenage boy and I would definitely recommend others to read it.
Amazing!!!!

A boy with no dreams and no real friends embarks on a journey that brings him on the doorsteps of his family cabin.
In the beginning, James took this as an excellent opportunity to run away and enjoy his vacations. But he needed to make decisions here as well. The only difference was that this time he had help. I cannot go further into the story without spoiling it, so I’ll let you read it for yourself.
I will however say that Decisions was a very pleasant read. I am on vacations myself and enjoyed reading every single page.
Even though this was not my genre, I still picked it up and I did not regret it at all. The book is very fitting to take along with you on vacations. You couldn’t help but wish that the some exciting things would happen to you too, as they happened with James on his trip.
All in all, it was a great read and I liked it.
I’m so glad I picked up Decisions by G.J.C. last night!!!!

I’m so glad I picked up Decisions by G.J.C. last night. I was having an unusually bad day and this was exactly the book I needed to pull me out.
In fact, for a moment I felt like this book was written specifically for me. Even though I’m not a teenage boy, the story of James resonated with me all the same.
This book takes us on a journey of a young boy who’s indecisive about his future at an age when most people are running after their dreams. As the book progresses and the story smoothly flows ahead, we see how everything happens for a reason.
If James had taken a shot in the dark, he never would have come to the family cabin and as a result he never would have met his loving aunts, uncles and granny. He never would have made such great new friends and most important of all, he would have never found the treasure!
it is a wonderful book

After months of my reading marathon in which I picked up one mystery thriller after another, I was surprised when my colleague handed me this one to review.
Decisions by G.J.C. was not my cup of tea but I still thought, why not?
I finished the book in two days, because I found it a little slow paced. But it was worth it. The book definitely picked up after James, the main character, found some papers behind an old picture. I also loved the character building in the book where James started as a boy on vacation and ended up being a boy with some important decisions to make. The character of Granny was aslo fun to read, and I liked her sassy attitude.
All in all, it was a good book. For a debut novel, the author did a great job and I am expecting more good stuff from him as he definitely has the potential!

If you ever want a lighter read, I’d recommend you to pick this book. Decisions by G.J.C is the kind of book you pick up for a flight, or for during a train ride. It’ll keep you engaged and happy and help you spend a good time with yourself.
It’s a lovely story about a boy named James. James had just graduated high school and he is stuck in that awakward and scary place where everyone else is moving forward, while he is clueless.
We all talk about people with big dreams and how they made something out of it. This book touched on the topic of having no dreams in the first place. That thought is equally scary, and that’s why I loved this book. The book teaches a lesson that sometimes, plans have already been written for us, we just don’t know them yet.

Decision sby G.J.C is a fantastically written story. The lively characters, and the gripping story line is amazing. You can actually see the story unfolding inside your head and you cannot help but like it.
The book itself is very short, the story line is simple too but you just like it for its straightforwardness.
I like the plot line too, the way it depicted in a very simple manner how fate works. This is the debut novel by G.J.C and is targeted for a younger audience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn’t mind seeing a book by the same writer meant for older audience.
I can also tell that the author has a flare for something more adventurous the way he touched the element in Decisions. All in all, it was a happy read and I’d recommend it to people who are in search of an effortless read.
Deeply felt in love

If you are looking for a book that will make you smile all the while you are reading it and fill you with hopes and dreams then Decisions by G.J.C. is the book you need.
I for one loved G.J.C.’s offbeat style of prose, and all sorts of oddball personalities found in his book. The book follows a relatively simple and straightforward storyline in which a confused and freshly graduated James decides to spend some time at his family cabin. There are decisions he needs to make and he is trying to buy himself some time.
Once he went there, he got introduced to a whole new world of friends and family. But that’s not all. Add a spicy adventure to the story, a hidden treasure, a sassy granny and you have a novel that will give you butterflies.
I personally loved this book and would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a light read, and nothing too intense.
It was a nice story

I started reading Decisions by G.J.C on a Friday night and by the following Saturday evening I was turning the last page! It goes without saying that the plot was gripping and I was hooked to the story, right from the start.
Decisions, is a story about a boy named James who goes on vacations at a family cabin, and it turns out to be the turning point in his life. Unable to make a choice about his career, James is stuck in a limbo. However, the moment he arrives at the cabin, everything begins to unfold and unsolved on its own.
There are many lessons to take away from this book. It talks about the importance of faith in one’s abilities and it teaches us the value of family and good friends. Most importantly, Decisions by G.J.C talks about the importance of finding yourself by losing yourself first.
The writing style of the author is quite simple and straightforward, making it quite a fast read.

Decisions, was a very sweet book that just made my day. It took me a day and a half to finish it and then I couldn’t stop thinking about it. That’s how I knew that I loved this book. It is actually quite hard to put my finger on what it is that about this book that made it such a good read.
Perhaps it is the simple and realistic plot line, or the fact that it took place in a fairytale-ish setting. Or maybe it was the adventurous aspect to it.
In his book, G.J.C takes us along on a ride with James, to an unforgettable summer vacations.
James is trying to find out where he would like to see himself in the future when the thought of spending some time at the family cabin crosses his mind. At the cabin beside the lake, James suddenly finds himself amidst a loving family, new friends, pretty girls and a surprising discovery in his hand.
I love it!!!

Set in a picturesque lake town, Decisions by G. J. C. is a tale of family, friendship, and young love.
James, a young high school graduate finds himself at a crossroad in his life. Unable to make a decision about his future, he plans for a vacation at the family cabin. He promises his mom that he will use the time to contemplate about his future.
And that’s exactly what James planned to do; to spend the rest of the summer relaxing by the lake and thinking about his options. However, to make decisions when you don’t have a dream is a certainly not a walk in the park.
Fortunately for James, his future is already set and waiting for him to be discovered in the homely wooden cabin beside the lake.
This book was a fun read for me. The protagonist was a young boy, whose worries and adventures gave me a much needed respite from my own. I’d love to check out other books by the writer.

We erratically make big and small decisions every day, but there are some decisions that end up changing our lives forever. That’s exactly what happened with James, when he decided to leave all his worries behind and head towards his family cabin for the summers.
James didn’t realize what he was missing. Not until he went to the cabin and crashed head first into a world of relatives, cousins, aunts, uncles, and granny. James met family he didn’t even know existed.
But that’s not all; waiting for him in the cabin, hidden behind a painting was another pleasant surprise, one that just ended up shaping his future. Armed with family support, an unexpected treasure, and new friends, James was finally able to figure out his life.
I finished this book in one day and I absolutely loved every part of it. The story was fast paced and pleasantly optimistic. What I liked most about this book was the way G. J. C. placed importance on family connections.
Awesome!!!!

Who doesn’t dream of a summer that blesses you with delicious meals every day, where you’re surrounded by your grandma’s love, and an endearing relationship with uncles and aunts? That’s not all; don’t we all dream of a summer spent peacefully in a cabin house right beside the lake?
In the novel Decisions, by G. J. C we all get to live our dreams through James. While reading this book, I actually felt like I was transported to this picture perfect location. In addition to all the happy happenings of the book, I liked how fast paced it was and included an element of fun that was not completely out of hand.
I truly believe that we all need to read this book in order to appreciate our families. Most of us, in our teenage years take the love of our elders for granted.
If you are looking for a fun read with nothing too emotionally overwhelming, this book is it!
Amazing!!!

From what I understand, G. J .C is a man who has done many odd jobs in his life, and this is his first foray into creating stories. Decisions, is his debut novel in which he has braved the contemporary young adult genre, and remarkably passed with flying colors.
In Decisions, G. J. C takes his readers on an exciting and adventurous journey of love, youth, relationships and surprises. This book follows the story of a young boy named James, who like most high school graduates, too decides to take a much needed break by visiting his family cabin on the day of his graduation.
What James didn’t expect was meeting daring new friends, attending wild parties by the lake, and making discoveries that had long stayed buried. And he certainly didn’t expect to make memories that would last him a lifetime.
Allow me to state here that G. J .C truly knows how to capture imaginations with his writing skills. This book was an incredibly enjoyable read and I was hooked to it from the beginning till the very end.
