A collection of poems laid out similarly to the basic framework of the Decameron, a collection of short stories written by the 14th century Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio. In ten sections of ten, Decamerooned covers a span of a decade of moving back and forth across the country. Like the youth in the Decameron who were sequestered to avoid the Black Death and told stories to entertain each other, the author and his family and all of the world were sequestered by COVID and these poems were the result of the author's journey. Themes examined include nature, pets, relationships, the idea of home and hearth, mortality, and COVID.
