Death Takes Revenge

A stranger arrives at an address in a nice part of town. He is invited inside by the lady who lives there. Soon she and her husband are dead. A woman lured to the house on a pretext is also murdered: the level of violence inflicted on the victims is extreme.

Detective Inspector Mark Hobson is tasked with investigating this triple murder. To begin with he can find nothing to connect the third victim to the other two, but then he discovers that she and the male householder were both members of a jury which ten years earlier convicted a celebrity public figure of numerous child sex offences: Hobson himself was an investigating officer in that case.

Other particularly gruesome murders follow, and all of the victims turn out to have had links with that trial.

Hobson's wife and daughter then become pawns in a deadly game of cat and mouse, and Hobson is forced to consider doing something truly appalling in an effort to save their lives.
