Living in a country where rivers are abundant and every major town is located on the banks of some great rivers, rivers always gave me a sense of purpose and direction. They identified with the human life, concealing centuries of history buried in them. And whenever a small river dies, a history is lost. This is my humble protest against an ignominious death of a small river and many such communities in the present time whose small numbers made them unviable in an increasingly democratic world where only numbers are of importance.
