Outstanding. Should be required reading for all US citizens

Delineates the historical sequences that resulted in the creation of this U.S. technological marvel. This book makes it clear that this great achievement could not have been done without persistence and the can-do attitude that has characterized American endeavors in many areas. This includes the ingenious idea of raising the water level to 85 feet above sea level in order to minimize the earth moving requirements and the the pioneering efforts of American medicine in overcoming malaria and yellow fever that had stymied the previous efforts to build by the French company. Highly recommended as background reading in order to help understand the present situation in Panama.

Quick Read. Shocking Info.

I just got "Death Knell" and finished it this afternoon. It's no Tom Clancy novel but since this thing is true, it's a page-turner. I'm sending a copy of this book to my Congressman and I suggest you do the same. The guys in power need to see this book.

Excellent!

The nations preoccupation with impeachment has put to one side the consequences of Communist China's control of each end of the Panama Canal. This thought provoking book full of strategic facts rarely seen in the national press well and truly sounds the alarm before it is too late. I thouroughly recommend it. Arnold Parkinson

A detailed look at the dangers threatening the Panama Canal.

The author, a retired Coast Guard Captain, has presented a compelling case that the United States may someday be locked out of the American-built canal in Panama.A combination of State Department-complicity, Panamanian neglect and clandestine dealings by Red China pose a tremendous threat to American access to this vital trade route.

this critic of U.S. retreat backs up views with facts.

This book contains some very strong opinions about the U.S. retreat from Panama. I was shocked to learn about Red China moving in to the Panama Canal as the U.S. moves out. This is not something that is being reported in newspapers in U.S. The chapter about Red China's agent, the Hutchison-Whampoa company, signing a lease with Panama to take control of the exit-entrance ports of the Panama Canal was especially revealing. The book tells you how even the U.S. Ambassador to Panama was kept in the dark about this lease until after it was passed as "Panama Law number 5." With the U.S. military bases all being closed down this year, and all the U.S. troops being withdrawn, this is a very timely book and I hope every congressman and senator reads it, and every American asks their congressman and senators what they are going to do about the problems raised in this book? Admiral Moorer's introduction starts right out with the warning about what this U.S. retreat from Panama means for U.S. security interests. I can understand why President Clinton might want to look the other way and continue the U.S. retreat while Red China moves into the Panama Canal. But how come Congress lets him do it without objecting? I strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in the national security of the United States. Very alarming information, very strong call to action for our nations leaders.
