Omar is an army officer, ex-slave, and a Muslim in post-Civil War America. When the beautiful widow of his late friend asks for help to arrest his murderer, Omar has little reason to object. But he soon finds himself tangled in the multitude of powers vying to take control of the Southwest-from Apache warriors to Mexican revolutionaries and Confederate soldiers-that threaten his own loyalties and duty to the law.
Ripe with danger, politics, and a dash of romance, Omar's journey across the Sonora Desert could either bring justice to those dear to him or very well kill him.
