Death in Paradise: Season 4

What's a Detective Inspector to do? Just when it seems that love will finally conquer the reserved, British heart of DI Humphrey Goodman, beautiful Detective Sergeant Camille Bordey may leave their sun-baked Caribbean paradise. Two new recruits join the team to investigate eight more killings - from a ghostly stabbing during a seance and the drowning of a bride-to-be, to the murders of a surf instructor, rock-and-roll singer and champion volley-ball player. As if that weren't enough for the already distracted Goodman to handle, his father visits the island of St. Marie to set him straight. Enjoy this warm, witty series with its stunning setting and captivating characters, portrayed by Kris Marshall (Love Avtually)and Sara Martins (LIttle White Lies).

Go ahead and try to binge 15 seasons or 117 episodes at this writing.

The series starts with a locked room mystery, and the detective, sent there on a mission, is not adjusted to Paradise (Saint-Marie) life or climate, forced to stay and figure out the culprit/s. Soon, he finds himself trapped in that position on that island. Naturally, it is funny to watch him suffer. However, we find he has a unique ability to detect the undetectable. This turns into a formula TV series where we meet the people of the island and the visitors. Everyone gathers around the whiteboard to discuss, and in the end, there is a gathering of suspects. I make it sound simple, but the methods of dispatch and who-dun-it can be quite complex. How can a TV formula go for over a decade? By replacing the characters (including the detective), but still thinking of unique ways to dispatch. So, whether you just purchase a season or a decade’s worth, you will be intrigued to the end. Oh, did I mention that the gathering of suspects was taken unabashedly straight out of the Agatha Christie formula? I buy the DVDs for future viewing. Re-viewing after you know the culprit lets you see the clues you missed the first time around.
