When the body of the Managing Director, Gerald Johnson, was found in his office, employees of Johnson's Rubber Factory came under suspicion. It fell to the middle-aged, pedantic police sergeant Hopkins and his team to wade through the statements from all the suspects and decide who was lying and who was hiding secrets, both old and new. Interviewing the employees brought up more questions than answers; on the surface the company was successful and staff were content, but after wading through the evidence and reading between the lines he uncovered long-held secrets that could have a bearing on the demise of the charismatic MD, or did the answer lie in more recent events?
