After coming to terms with the realities of my trauma, I decided to channel my focus inward instead of outward. After composing this book, I realized that I had never truly experienced life without some element of fear in almost fifty years. I composed this book as a way of working through the trauma that resides within me, and I also strive to provide comfort to individuals who have undergone similar experiences.

Through the process of writing this book, I developed a greater understanding of the various elements that contribute to trauma. I discovered that it is essential to recognize the various socioeconomic and environmental factors that drive and shape the experience of trauma. Additionally, I recognize that the response to any given trauma is unique to the individual, and it is critical to view the situation from an external lens to develop effective prevention and healing strategies. Finally, I recognize that I have the power to choose which journey to embark on, regardless of the challenges and traumas I have faced. I choose to be brave, live my truth, and provide a safe outlet for individuals seeking healing.
