As we age, encounter a life threatening illness, or watch our contemporaries pass away, we are forced into contemplating our own mortality, whether we like it or not. Most of us, despite knowing that our lives are of a finite duration, the end of which we can never predict with any accuracy, fear death and try to park that fear out of sight, so it does not encroach or spoil our enjoyment of life.
