Dear Mum makes the "hard to understand," understandable.

While doing some research on young Americans enlisting to fight for the UK at the onset of WW2, I read Ken Stofer's "Dear Mum." Statistics regarding these young men were easy to come by, understanding their motivation to enlist was not. Mr. Stofer's book answered the why with his skillful introduction into "Candy's" compassionate and patriotic nature. The reader clearly understands, in fact, can feel this young Canadian's desire to help war torn England. "Dear Mum" is indeed a rare insight into the psychology of this youthful hero and makes the reader long for the chivalry of days gone by. "Dear Mum" is moving and riveting and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the transformation of the written word into art.
