Dr. Sillybear and Nurse Rabbit have to have plenty of patience with their patients. For instance, there's Horace the horse who is hoarse, and Hoot the baby owl, who doesn't say WHOO but WHAT. But Dr.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
As a former elementary school teacher, I highly recommend this silly-ful book for primary grade students. Children in grades 1st-3rd will be able to read this book independently and confidently, as the sentences, phrasing, dialogue and action are written much in the style of an easy or beginning reader. Children will appreciate the wacky word play and zany humor as well. Regan definitely knows her audience: Kids love being on the inside of a joke, and they'll realize immediately that Dr. Silly Bear isn't the brightest lightbulb in the medical office - - Nurse Rabbit is! Readers who have enjoyed the crazy mix-ups in the Amelia Bedelia books will relish this title even more. The bright, fun and funny illustrations are also an asset, especially for children who might be wary of a visit to the pediatrican's office. Buy two - - one for you and one for your family doctor!
Deliciously Funny

The puns and wordplay in this book are hilarious. Like Petunia the Silly Goose or Amelia Bedelia, Dr. Sillybear's mix-ups are funny because they play with words and concepts that kids have mastered. Children older than toddler age will eat this one up. Also, its size and layout make it perfect for classroom use or library storyhours.
