When political turmoil forces a British-Caribbean dictator to flee his island nation, he seeks refuge with his pen pal, a rebellious teenage girl in suburban America, and teaches her how to start a revolution and overthrow the "mean girls" in her high school.
Tatiana Mills (Odeya Rush) is having the standard high school conflict. She may also be having communication problems with her mother (Katie Holmes). However, she can relate to General Anton Vincent (Michael Caine).
Tatiana’s mother has this thing for men (all men), which gets her into all kinds of situations.
Our hero to the rescue is General Anton Vincent (Michael Caine), who just lost the last U.S.-backed coup. General Anton Vincent, after getting several letters of admiration from Tatiana, chooses to hide out in the Mills’ home. There, he attempts to make a dysfunctional family functional like his country. In the process, even the General gets a coming-of-age enlightenment by correcting his dysfunctional family.
It is a cute movie, and all the actors fit the characters they play. There is a little too much noise (I suppose music) in the background.
