I have been traveling the US as a national sales trainer in the home building industry for 3 yrs. We are always looking for something to give salespeople and staff an extra edge. This book is awesome!! Whether you are looking for an edge in business or want to make the world a better place, this book is a one of a kind. If "Think and Grow Rich" and "The Power of Positive Thinking" are required reading for success oriented people then add "Deal-Making for Good" to the list. For those outside of Central Texas Dick Rathgeber is a legend. His success in business and good works is distilled down to an entertaining and educational book about success in life. If you ever wondered "how do deals get done?" You are about to find out. READ THIS BOOK!

In tough times, more people are in need and those who can help want to be smart about making donations. Rathgeber's book is an inspiring and practical guide to making philanthropy a way of life even when you may not think you have much to give. The book has both useful anecdotes and thoughtful reflections in addition to sound advice on getting the most for your charity dollar. A must for anyone with resources to share and a desire to do good.

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas - the central location for the majority of Mr. Rathgebers book. Additionally I am beginning my own career in real estate (Realtor). This book is wonderful! The chapters in his book illustrate the details of many stories I heard while growing up in Austin and the book shows why Austin, Texas, ranks so high on the ''Best Of'' lists (when compared to other cities). The book inspired me both personally and professionally.
Significant guidelines for effective giving and living

Dick Rathbeger's honest, straight forward approach to philanthropy, interpersonal relationships, mentoring is inspiring and creates a contagious desire to "follow along". How good the author chose to share his proven philanthropic "clues" with us readers. This book reveals (in a truly jovial and positive manner) the art of perseverance for effective living. And, Mr. Rathgeber, I see, as a "down home realist"; how wonderfully refreshing and encouraging! A special read!!!
Intelligent Guidelines for Smart Giving

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mr. Rathgeber's book. It caught my attention because I too am in the phase of life where I am trying to be a better "philanthropist" and more of a "smart giver". This easy to read book offered such wisdom and insight on how we might be more inclusive, better utilize our own talents, and set intelligent guidelines to efficiently achieve realistic goals. I would recommend this book to anyone who is seeking to be a stronger steward with their capital. Mr. Rathgeber's humorous anecdotes by themselves make it an entertaining read, but his "how-to stories" for "smart giving" distinguish it as one of the best books on this subject that I have ever read.
