A must have for deeper understanding

Deaf people here in America come from MANY different backgrounds. This book illustrates the unique experiences and needs of people from differing cultures, not just the aspect of deafness. If you work with/for deaf people I would suggest this as required reading -- especially for those in school systems!

An essential, invaluable addition to the literature.

Ably edited by Kathee Christensen, professor of communication disorders at San Diego State University, Deaf Plus: A Multicultural Perspective addresses the multicultural issues for the hearing impaired student in the modern classroom. Recommendations and ideas are offered for teacher preparation in a multicultural classroom and serves as an ideal secondary text for students of Deaf Education and Deaf Studies programs. Deaf Plus: A Multicultural Perspective is an essential, invaluable addition to professional, special education, multicultural education, and teacher education library reference collections.
