Everyone remembers what they were doing when John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. I was working in Tampa and couldn't understand why anyone would want to kill the president of the United States? Little did I know that twenty years later I would become previ to startling new information that explained how and why JFK was killed! After leading expeditions around the world and producing films of my expeditions with major Hollywood actors, I achieved my "fifteen minutes of fame" and some measure of notoriety in Tampa. When I read in the newspaper that Tampa's famous criminal attorney, Frank Ragano, wanted to produce a film on the life of Teamster president, Jimmy Hoffa, I figured I might be able to help, so went to his office and introduced myself. I wasn's unaware that Frank Ragano was also known as a 'Mob Lawyer', having represented such colorful characters as Tampa's Santo Trafficante and New Orleans' Carlos Marcello. I also knew Jimmy Hoffa had been killed by someone and that Frank might have some insite into how it happened! Luckily, Frank had heard of me and wanted to hear all about my expeditions around the world and especially about my expeditions to search for the Titanic. It wasn't long before we joined forces to produce Frank's film on the life and death of Jimmy Hoffa! I introduced Frank to Robin Moore, who wrote "The French Connection," "Green Berrets" and other famous films. Frank brought in Chuckie O'Brien, Hoffa's foster son, and together, they sat down and told Robin exactly how Jimmy Hoffa became the head of the Teamsters, how and why he got involved with the mob, why Jimmy Hoffa asked the mob to kill JFK, how Attorney General Bobby Kennedy convicted Hoffa of jury tampering, how much he paid President Nixon to get an early release from jail, plus, who killed Jimmy Hoffa when he tried to take back the presidency of his union. Robin Moore wrote a dynamite screenplay, but the film we wanted to produce never received funding. "Deadly Associations", is based on Robin Moore's screenplay and tells the good, the bad, and the ugly about Jimmy Hoffa's death and the death of JFK as well!
