WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From New York to Mississippi, from violence, deciet, and murder to romance, this is one thrilling ride. Tess Abbott is a senator's grandaughter. She is an investigative reporter in New York. When her father commits suicide in prison, just as he is to be paroled for the murder of her mother, she gets a call that changes her life. A woman calls to tell her that her father was murdered before he could get out and prove his innocence with new evidence. Not sure if she believes her caller she decides to do a little investigating. She was only 4 when her mother died and remembers little. Against her family and her desires, her instincts send her back to Grady, Mississippi. Spencer Reed is a reporter who writes a syndicated column. He is home in Grady Mississippi when Tess arrives at his father's newspaper office. He also has had a call about the murder 25 years ago. When people begin to die and Tess is run off the road, he is sure that something is rotten in Mississippi. The story is riviting and so is Tess. This is a moving story that builds to a great end. I loved it. I enjoyed every minute between first page to last. The tension, the characters and the unknown twists keep you on the edge of your chair. I hardily recommend this book. Metsy Hingle is some writer.

DEADLINE is a winner

Fans of romantic suspense will find DEADLINE fast paced and intriguing. The main character Tess Abbott, who is the granddaughter of a US Senator and a Washington DC TV Investigative Reporter, decides to discover who really murdered her mother 25 years ago. Her father, convicted of the crime, has died in jail labeled as a suicide, just before he is paroled and could reveal the real murderer. Spencer Reed is a hard-hitting political journalist who is in the thick of it trying to discredit the leading candidate in the race for the vacant Mississippi's Governor's seat. He joins Tess in her search for the truth, hopeful that her discovery will bring light to his suspicions that not all things are as they appear in the capital of Mississippi. But as witnesses who implicated her father at his trial turn up dead, the killer turns his focus on Tess as she gets closer to the truth. DEADLINE gives the reader a quick look into the field of investigative journalism and political intrigue in the State of Mississippi from a rural viewpoint. Emotions run high, danger is ever present and there is a twist in the plot as to who the actual murderer is. Romance is secondary to the real goal of exposing injustice. This book has strong main and secondary characters and the story plays out in a small Mississippi town of Grady, where everyone knows everyone else's business. Fans of Metsy Hingle will enjoy her latest book.

Pandoras Box

Once Tess Abbott gets a call regarding the possibility that her fathers death was not a suicide she is determined to find out exactly what happened. This leads her on a trail of events from murder to near death herself and of coure Ms Hingle brings romance into the story. It is just wonderful, quick, easy, fast paced and very interesting and the ending is great. You won't want to put it down but will want to see if justice is served. This is a fantistic book and one I highly recommend if you are a previous reader of hers then you know what a great story teller she is and if not once you finished this you will definitely want to read her other books. Great writing.

fine investigative journalist romantic thriller

An anonymous phone caller informs DC TV investigative reporter Tess Abbott that her father Jodie Burns, who officially committed suicide in prison, did not kill himself or her mother twenty-five years ago. Tess thinks her dad's death is justice, but the frightened woman on the other end of the phone leaves her with some doubts that she tries to ignore. However, her producer pal Ronnie Hill knows something is wrong and says so. Tess heads back to her hometown of Grady, Mississippi to uncover what happened so many years ago. She meets investigative journalist Spencer Reed who is working on a story that will destroy the gubernatorial candidacy of Everett Caine, the prosecutor who gained the conviction of Jodie. As they compare notes and begin digging up hidden information, Tess' microscopic uncertainty that her father was innocent begins to grow to where she feels the state convicted the wrong man. However, someone wants her and Matt stopped and begins killing witnesses to her mother's death. As the two reporters fall in love they struggle to stay alive long enough to cherish these feelings and expose a desperate murderer Fans of investigative journalist romantic thrillers will take immense delight with DEADLINE, an aptly named title. The story line moves rather quickly forward from the start and never blinks until the climatic altercation with the killer. Though Tess acts impetuous and amateurish at times, readers can rationalize that the case is personal. Still, she is a steel magnolia while her beloved counterpart is an intrepid soul risking his life so she can learn the truth. The Grady locals add that Southern feeling that provides the backdrop to a tense thriller. Harriet Klausner
