This book was also published in paperback with the title of "CLINT", but first saw light in West Magazine in 1930 as Son of the West. But by whatever title this is a book to own if you enjoy Ernest Haycox novels. It's good story telling with fine characters and characterizations and plenty of action to keep the reader interested. It's the story of a man who feels he must get involved in the trouble that is happening in the community because something HAS to be done, and no one else seemed inclined. A hero many might call him, but not Clint Charterhouse himself; he was just doing what needed to be done. How like so many today who take charge when the chips are done and on the line. Real people in real situations--that's what made Ernest Haycox so good. He knew life and how to live it.
