All Great Stories

I love the writing of all the authors in this book except I hadn't heard of Dianna Love before. I thought her story was good but wasn't thrilled, maybe I'm just not familiar with her writing. All the other stories were terrific, especially Kenyon's story of Fury. Just wish it had been longer, maybe a book in itself. Her books don't have enough of the wolves for my liking!!

Hot paranormal gems

I am a fan of all four of the authors featured in this anthology. While Susan Squires and Dianna Love's novellas were wonderful, the best treats were JR Ward's Story of Son and Shadow of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon. In Ms. Kenyon's story of Fury, Angelia is a great heroine and the plot set in New Orleans unfolded at a spanking pace! JR Ward's Story of Son is set in the Black Dagger Brotherhood's mythical Caldwell, New York. The uber smart lawyer heroine, Claire is trapped with a shy, ahem, thirsty vampire who has been chained in the basement of Claire's rich client for nearly a century. Ward is great at writing sexy, tormented heros and Michael is just that! Susan Squires' Beyond the Night and Dianna Love's Midnight Kiss Goodbye round out the star studded line up. I would highly recommend any of these stories. All the authors have a knack for getting the reader sucked into their paranormal worlds.

four exciting romantic fantasies

"Shadow of the Moon" by Sherrilyn Kenyon. In New Orleans, vowing to keep his clan safe, Fury seeks the adversary who assaulted a werewolf. Vowing to keep her people safe, Angelia knows her people are under siege by the furious werewolf; she hunts him. Neither expected what happened between them. "The Story of Son" by J.R. Ward. In Caldwell, New York drinking Earl Grey while on a business visit to her nonagenarian wealthy client, attorney Claire is taken aback when the elderly woman says her Son will like her. The tea was drugged and when she regains consciousness, Claire is incarcerated with Michael the "Son". "Beyond the Night" by Susan Squires. Fifteen years ago, Drew Carlowe was accused of theft; he swore he did not do it, but no one believed him. Now he is finally home with the goal of regaining the love of the one person he missed. He buys the allegedly haunted Ashland where he finds himself desiring the occupant Freya the "ghost" who haunts his home and his heart while possessing his body. "Midnight Kiss Goodbye" by Dianna Love. As a VIPER, Belador warrior Trey protects humanity from evil. His current assignment is to keep human witch Sasha safe while they go after a malevolent warlord, but he wonders who will protect her from his attraction for her as his control when it comes to her bewitching him has slipped. These are four exciting romantic fantasies starring lead characters that bewitch the audience while making the respective "worlds" seem genuine; fans of the Dark Hunter and the Companion sagas have an added treat.

A Comeback For J.R. Ward

I am die hard fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon whose stories are always full of emotional intensity and she always remains true to her fans; however, J.R. Ward's "The Story of Son" eclipsed all of the others. I must admit that although I have read all of J.R. Ward's Brotherhood series, the last two books left me wondering what was happening in the mind of J.R. Ward. In one book the heroine was a ghost and in her last book the hero was a drug addict- this made me question if she'd forgotten what made a busy woman want to pick up and take the time to read a romance novel in the first place. Well I must say, Ms. Kenyon finally remembered. I have already read "The Story of Son" three times and I wish it were longer. The innocence and sensitivity of a lonely vampire out of touch with the world, yet instinctively knowing just what a woman wants- when to be aggressive and when to be tender-was so endearing and not just to me but to the hard-nosed heroine who finally recognized the missing piece of feminity that made her both strong and soft. Although this was a short story, it didn't feel rushed like some of the others did. The characters were so well developed that I really felt I knew them and I didn't want to say goodbye to Claire and her ability to recognize what she wanted and needed or to Michael's protectiveness and and willingness to leave the familiar when his mate and unborn child were threatened). J.R. Ward finally concentrated on the two individuals in the story that meant the most and not on a thousand other plot lines. I hope Ms. Ward keeps this type of writing at the forefront because I can't wait to read her next book. If I had to rank the stories of this anthology in order of "must read" to "can do without", this is the order they'd be placed in: The Story of Son(Ward), Shadow of the Moon(Kenyon), Beyond the Night(Squires), and Midnight Kiss Goodbye(Love).
