The third installment in Nicholas Ravnikar's attempt to write and publish four books of new poetry during the month of January, these short, free-verse poems offer a mix of dense descriptions, clarified ideas and surreal images. With much less obvious experimentation, Ravnikar presents mostly transparent poems that give the reader an opportunity to meditate. Part haiku, part imagist homage, some of the more fun poems in this collection turn on wordplay, while others read like riddles. This poetry book aims to establish Ravnikar as a serious author who can maintain a consistent and intense production schedule on demand. While he admits that not all - and perhaps not any - of these poems amount to great poetry or classic literature, they still attempt to engage in a conversation with and about both literary studies and literary theory.
