David "Davy" Crockett was an early 1800s folk hero, frontier woodsman, scout, soldier, and politician. Known as the "King of the Wild Frontier", he grew up poor and uneducated but ended up as a Congressman from Tennessee. He had a reputation for deer and bear hunting and storytelling. His active participation in the Creek War, part of the War Of 1812, saw fierce battles with the Creek Indians.
