Through his writings and art Leonardo da Vinci expressed observation was the key for understanding human nature and our relationship to the natural and manmade worlds. Five hundred years have passed since Leonardo offered his insights and it appears observation has become a lost art form of the mind. The modern intellectual process of quick analysis and judgement precludes the connection with the authentic experience of the Now inherent in the art of observation. It is possible to redirect thought from habitual judgment to observation with practice. We have a choice in the way we wish to see the world. To that end, I present "DaVin Chi," a series of subtle exercises of perception inspired by? Leonardo da Vinci. I open this notebook with this question. Are we ready as a race to rediscover our capacity for observation as a means to wisdom, empathy and understanding? As embodied by Leonardo, I believe it is worth our consideration.
