David Malouf's Treatment of Spirituality in 'The Conversations at Curlow Creek'

The term paper begins with an introduction followed by a discussion of the notion 'spirituality', which can be considered in a religious and in a non-religious context. After the definition and discussion of the phenomena 'spirit' and 'spirituality' the paper analyses how David Malouf treats these phenomena, particularly spirituality, in his novel "The Conversations at Curlow Creek" with particular reference to three passages which exemplify his treatment of spirituality. Indeed, spirituality is a recurrent theme in this novel and therefore this paper discusses spirituality in a religious and non-religious sense as well as the spiritual link between the protagonists. Die Hausarbeit beginnt mit einer Einleitung und diskutiert anschlie end den Begriff 'Geist' und 'Spiritualit t', wobei letzterer sowohl in einem religi sen als auch in einem nicht-religi sen Kontext betrachtet werden kann. Danach wird analysiert, wie David Malouf die Ph nomene 'Geist' und 'Spiritualit t' in seinem Roman "The Conversations at Curlow Creek" behandelt. Dabei wird besonders auf drei Passagen Bezug genommen, die seine differenzierte Behandlung des Ph nomens 'Spiritualit t' verdeutlichen und veranschaulichen. Tats chlich ist Spiritualit t in Maloufs Roman durchg ngig ein Thema, worauf immer wieder Bezug genommen oder angespielt wird, da es eng mit der Thematik - dem Kampf zwischen Leben, Mord und Tod - verbunden ist.
