By David Hockney

A triumphant final showcase of work from the late British painter beloved for his vibrant and figurative compositions

Published with Serpentine Gallery, London.

Published following David Hockney's (1937-2026) last exhibition before his death in June 2026, held at Serpentine Gallery, London, this publication brings together the artist's monumental 90-meter frieze alongside some of his recent and final paintings. A Year in Normandie and Some Other Thoughts about Painting invites readers to encounter Hockney's different modes of expression, capturing the artist's lifelong celebration of simple beauty. In addition to his monumental frieze of stitched together iPad drawings, inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, the book also includes 10 new paintings, five portraits and five still lifes. Taken together, these works trace the iconic artist's evolving dialogue with time, perspective and art history, reflecting his enduring call to look with both eyes and reconsider how painting can shape our experience of the world.
