Daves in America is the culmination of more than fifty years of research and data gathering by the author. He has not only compiled research but has also collected input from many fellow Daves genealogy enthusiasts to assemble this work.Doyle Daves began his interest in family history at a young age and began serious work on gathering and researching Daves genealogy in about 1961. Although Daves is a rare but old English surname, most Daves genealogists have quickly learned that researching Daves family history has many challenges. One researcher found that "the error rate of listing Daves as Davis in old records is approximately 100%". In general, the family is a southern family with known branches in South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and a few central states like Ohio and Illinois.
