If your daughter likes the cover, she'll love the book.

What a wonderful book... it has everything I could ask for: beautiful and interesting illustrations, powerful, moving text, and most of all, my 6 1/2 year-old daughter loves it! When she saw the woman hugging a cloud on the cover, her eyes lit up and I knew this book would be well-loved. We talked about the message that we come from and are part of nature, and she thought the bond she and I share was "cool." She wasn't at all disturbed by the drawings and in fact enjoyed discovering the different things happening in the pictures. As a mom, I REALLY appreciated finding a book that isn't all pink or cartoon-y or just plain boring for adults. I feel this book will make a positive difference in the way my daughter sees herself in the world.

I purchased 3 of these books!

I fell in love with this book when Rachel Coyne's father first showed it to me. I purchased the first book for my 3 year old daughter. I wanted to share with her the story's message: The celebration of the special bond between mothers and daughters and mother earth. I totally disagree with the NY Times review, the illustrations are beautiful and my daughter is fascinated with them - they are not distrubing at all. The other two books I purchased for friends who also have young daughters. I feel this is a perfect gift for any mother and daughter.

Wonderfull Poem and Illustrations

"Daughter, Have I Told You", has a very powerfull and emotional impact on mothers and daughters, if they identify with it. The bond between a mother and daughter is probably the strongest on earth. A fathers note: The release of "Daughter, Have I Told You" was one of the proudest moments of my life.
