Dashboard Jesus is a seriously funny tale of a battle between titanic forces of good and evil. On one side is David Adams, a successful young psychiatrist trying to figure out how to kill his beautiful wife after she develops a terrifying snore. On the other is Jesus Christ, wracked by guilt over how His life has been misreported to the point that people are now killing in His name. In the middle is a tiny plastic statue of the Savior-- a go-between who has come to life to serve his Master and save his new friend David. The story takes the reader on an enchanted trip from the bowels of Sing Sing Prison to the gates of heaven-- a heaven unlike anything imagined in the minds of many who are sure that's where they're going. Along the way, the reader will meet a bizarre cast of characters who might have stumbled out of Jonathan Swift, Mark Twain, or Terry Southern. At its heart, Dashboard Jesus is a spiritual quest stubbornly faithful to Jesus Christ as The Prince of Peace. Beneath the comedy runs a river of forgiveness and spiritual tolerance that will delight many, even as it may upset a few "concrete Christians" who are thoroughly mixed up and set in stone.
