James Garner, lead singer of Dark Words, a struggling band, didn't believe in much anymore- not even himself. All that he had left was his half-estranged father and the members of his band, who were just as broken as he was.

Unfortunately, the danger that was coming for him and all that he cared about very much believed in him. It didn't care that he was tired, that he had a concert to perform, or that his band might dissolve under the strain. It just wanted him.

Mixed in the crowd at the concert venue, hidden in the shadowed downtown alleys, and even living in his own basement, the newest generation of vampires had been abandoned by the community. Something about James called to them, and they were gathering. They were alone, scared, and mostly out of control. But mostly, they were hungry.
