Dark Indeed, and lacking

For reference: my fav book has a twist but brilliant development: “7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and is a very different genre. I don’t mind something dark, and yet this one left me flat. I struggle to get it finished hoping there would be some plot twist that redeemed the tail of 3 separate generations of women, and it didn’t come. I wanted to feel something more. The middle generation was a relationship that could have been the most full, and it just never got to feel…. Complete. Happy I finished it (am a slow reader in general) and still left unfulfilled.
