Enjoyable enough

I have only read a half dozen books by Catherine George but was not overly impressed with this effort. It was enjoyable enough, just not memorable. The main characters, Rose and Dante, (and their daughter Bea), were sweet, thoughtful, family-oriented. They lacked passion, drive- focus seemed on settling with the status quo. Complacent. The characters seemed aimless. I admired Rose's approach to single parenting; her dedication to her child. Rose's mother was an amazingly supportive parent. Dante was quite proud to discover he had fathered a daughter. He was dedicated and his emphasis on family appealing. Not a romantic tale- but no steam either. Dante was not aggressive in his pursuit of Rose; while claiming to have loved her at first sight he made no effort to establish contact when free to do so. They had best friends in common, so it puzzled me that Dante & Rose didn't express more interest in keeping abreast of each other's lives if they "loved" one another. I prefer more depth in my choices of reading material. This book may appeal to those readers preferring family based stories, sweet tales portraying kind characters wanting the best for their loved ones. Conflict free, basic plots.
