Doug Lia is a retired Associate Professor of Literacy and Elementary Education. His specialty has been Early Childhood education since beginning his career. Dr. Lia lives in a small town west of Chicago, Illinois. He is a father and the grandfather of five grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. His passions include reading, gardening and sharing literature with young children. Reading to his children when they were young, and now to his grandchildren, has always brought him a special joy. He is fortunate to live close to his grandchildren and spread the happiness to another generation. Published in various academic journals and anthologies, his first children's book was published in 2016. Danny's Night Time Prayers with Grandpa is his third children's book and the second to "star" one of his grandchildren.

Danny is an active three-year-old who enjoys going to day care, playing with his friends, laughing and loving his family.
