This is a story about a magic trunk. While it looked ordinary enough, it was magic, thanks to a witch doctor in Borneo, but that's getting ahead of the story. This one is about two best friends named Danny Finch and Jimmy Lasher. These were not popular boys; in fact, they were the least popular boys in the fifth grade class of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Thus begins the adventures of Danny and Jimmy. While negotiating the pitfalls of being the biggest losers of the their class, they find adventure in a magic trunk that holds souvenirs which, when touched, transport them to Paris in the 1920's, Coney Island in 1940, on a tramp steamer crossing the Pacific ocean in 1938, and finally, meeting the headhunters of Borneo in 1948. Each adventure teaches Danny a life lesson that helps transform him from the biggest loser to the most popular boy in his class.
