Environmental Studies, Remote Sensing, and Modelling: Final Publications from the Danish-German Jerash Northwest Quarter Project I

Since the site of Gerasa was placed on the map by the German scholar Jasper Ulrich Seetzen, the city has attracted attention from travelers and scholars. Archaeological work has been undertaken at the site since 1902 by various archaeological teams. Since 2011 a Danish-German team (Aarhus and Munster universities) have been working in the Northwest Quarter of the city - the highest point within the walled city. This volume is the first in a series of several volumes that together present the final results from The Danish-German Jerash Northwest Quarter Project, which was undertaken between 2011-2016. Volume 1 covers different themes and find categories and includes the geophysical as well as other remote sensing work undertaken in the Northwest Quarter and beyond connected to the project, the geoscience analysis done in various contexts, as well as the radiocarbon dating which has been performed over the years. Furthermore the bones, both animal and human bones, are included as well as the archaeobotanical research undertaken.
