Amy Peterson writes from the heart, and I like that. She explained her passion and longing to become a missionary like the ones she read about growing up. She also talks about what it felt like being looked down upon by those in her parents' church as a woman missionary, her search for romantic love (being in and out of a relationship for quite some time), and the hardships she endured while teaching English in China (but having Bible studies with a few of her students).
I do like the rawness of emotion that was shared in this book. She explained her doubts, how she was heartbroken about the situations that took place in China, and how she was able to eventually find a moment where her idea of missions changed into something simpler over time.
