In the mists of time, which fogs the facts of histories and legends, that create myths and superstitions, orphans Kae-Tea-Lynn and Andrew-A-Cuss Lamp-Holder are set adrift thanks to the crime-lord Rabideen. To survive, they endeavour to live in light, as their parents had, while the siblings make their own way in their struggling untidy world. Kae and Drew Lamp-Holder are seeking peace and harmony. Running for their lives from murderous thugs and madmen is what they actually find themselves doing. Driven from their city life into the countryside, there's no corner-stores or helpful police close at hand. These gifted children find little help from the thousands of wandering souls around them that are in dire-straights, as well. They soon feel burdened with responsibility, despite their talents, while needy adults with less training and abilities lean on them for basic needs. The terror of being hunted by Rabideen spurs them all on. Losing seems eminent. But live or die, the Lamp-Holders are willing to make winning become possible.
