"At the end of the day, these poems are my best attempt to represent a more complex, new age of masculinity, the kind where men can be who and what they want to be without apology."
Dandelions Aren't Weeds is Roger Powell's debut collection of poetry. Throughout the collection, Powell draws on his own experiences and relationships over the years to beautifully and vulnerably explore the complexities of masculinity. In doing so, he reconciles "contradictory" aspects of his identity, confronts toxic societal expectations placed on men to be and do things in certain ways, and ultimately paves the way for men to ask for help, to cry, and to be their authentic selves.
Incredibly relatable, raw, and brave, Powell inspires readers to believe they are, indeed, man enough.
