In 1969, Willie Arthur Smith brought his love of dance and entertainment into the Kansas City Public Schools. He entered 13 young men in a school talent show and they won 1st place, thus the legend began of Willie Arthur Smith's Marching Cobras, Incorporated. Under the direction of Willie Arthur Smith, the Marching Cobras have won over 400 awards in parades and competition with many of them being 1st place. The Marching Cobras have performed at the White House 3 times for President Ronald Reagan and President Bill Clinton. The Marching Cobras are still a premier performing unit in the Kansas City area and around the United States. Willie Arthur Smith remains the heart and soul of this dynamic organization for over 50 years and is still persevering to this day.
