Well-written, well-researched book!!

I am an avid true crime reader and it doesn't take me long into the book to know if it is written well. The first page of Dance of Death revealed I was in for a real treat. The book reads like a novel, as Dale Hudson done his homework and easily demonstrates that time and time again throught the story. No stone left unturned, the book explores the warped perspective of the former NC stripper, Kimberly Renee Poole, who uses sex to pull men into her volatile vices. Sadly, one man wasn't enough to saturate her appetite, as she needed a number of both men and women in adulterous affairs to satisfy. Her intentions turn sour when she meets the equally dysfunctional John Boyd Frazier. His solution to his and Kimberly's carnal problems is two slugs from a 9 mm. to Brent Poole's head. Hudson captures with great clairity the trauma and senselessness of these two amateur killers, drawing upon conversations with Kimberly, the police, and Brent's family members. I could almost feel the sense of being there and honestly my heart ached for these victims. Kimberly was such a cold and selfish person that she obviously never considered or cared that her and Brent's daughter was there on the trip with them. Surely, she would know her daughter was going to ask, "Mommy, where's my Daddy?" when she walked through the door without him. The words of Brent Poole, "Don't kill me...because I have a daughter who loves me," haunted me for weeks, long after I had put the book down. Dance of Death is a keeper and I award five stars to Dale Hudson for his efforts!!

Excellent Read

I really enjoyed Dance of Death. It was well researched and well-written. Kimberly Poole and John Boyd Frazier were somewhat familiar to me, for I had remembered the case from Court TV. But, at the time, it wasn't interesting. Now that I have read Dance of Death, I can shoot myself for not paying attention to the case. Maybe it was the way the author told this story, but this story ranks with my all time high true crime books. I couldn't put the book down and was glued to every word on every single page. Dale Hudson is very good at this. In reading true crime, I have found there are people who know how to write and there are some people who can tell a good story, but I haven't found as anyone as good as Dale Hudson. He can write and tell a good story at the same time!

Kimberly Renee Poole has found another sucker!

First of all, let me preface my statements by saying I knew Brent Poole and his family. Brent was probably the nicest guy you will ever meet. He didn't have a mean bone in his body and probably the only person who would have put up with Renee's crap. Why he had to die is beyond me, but Renee wanted him dead and what Renee wanted she always got! I have read Dance of Death, twice, and find all of it to be truthful. I am surprised that Renee was so candid about herself and revealed so much of her character. But, that is the way she has always been. It's always been about her and what she wants. I can't count the number of times Brent caught her cheating. She had guys-and girls-coming and going. I saw her dance a few times at the club and she would lay down with any old flea-bag just to make a dollar. I'm no expert, but after reading this book, I can see she had some real sexual hangups. On another note, I read where she has found another sucker! Even in prison, and serving a life sentence, she finds a way to con somebody. Poor old Kimberly (he calls her that so I guess she has changed her name in prison. Wouldn't want people recognizing her name as a murderer, would we?), J. Miller writes, she has been falsely accused and convicted, and remains in jail by the words of people like Dale Hudson. I guess the poor old guy never saw it coming. If he knows what is good for him, he better drop Kimberly like a hot potatoe, or he'll end up in the same condition as Brent, John, and countless of other men that listened to her bull! REST IN PEACE, MY FRIEND, BRENT POOLE. At least, you finally got away from the black widow. She'll never be able to hurt you again!

suspense reader

I just finished reading Dale Hudson's Dance of Death, the book jacket caught my eye because I was famaliar with the area where the story took place. I feel that he did a tremendous job in presenting the facts and the role played by those involved in this horrific event. My sympathies go out to the families of Brent & Renee. I can not imagine what those months must have been like, nor can I imagine what must have gone through Renee's mind that night on the beach! But in reading and re-reading I can't help but believe a large portion of the evidence against John Frazier was circumstance and the jury truly must have wrestled with those ideas. Dale Hudson is a superb author and had me hooked from the first page of this story. I applaude his efforts to look deeply into Renee's troubled past and all the scenario's that could have brought this entire family to this tragic end. This is a first rate publication and I highly recommend this author.

Absolutely wonderful! What a page turner!

I am not a big true crime reader-I'm more into bios and novels- but this book grabbed me from page one and I couldn't get lose until eight hours later. Amazingly detailed for a true crime book, Dance of Death started with the suspenseful murder of William Brent Poole and kept me on the edge of my seat and through the trial of Renee Poole and her lover, John Boyd Frazier, to the very last page. I particularly enjoyed the author's style of writng, very witty at times, and was appreciative of the fact that he presented the evidence fairly from both sides. I hate it when a writer has already decided for me whether the suspect is guilty or not. No doubt, Renee Poole is guilty and conspired to murder her husband, but I enjoyed reading the evidence and making up my own mind about it. I would higly recommend this book to anyone who loves to be held captive by a story for a day or two.
