In Damian's Dance, a novel inspired by real events, Damian, a resigned priest, tells the story of his journey towards the priesthood: his budding vocation in high school, his eleven years of training as a cleric, his life as a missionary in the Philippines and his decision to leave the ministry.His tale brings us into the traditional Catholic Church of the fifties and the stormy decade after the Second Vatican Council that brought fundamental renewal to the Church. You meet the people and the circumstances that inspired his ordination and, in the end, his decision to choose the new vocation of a married priest.As a high school youngster, he performed a dance for Pope Pius XII, 'The Truth Always Prevails.' His journey is a dance through his inner struggles, elation, frustration, doubts, successes and failures, and yes, sometimes selfishness and self-deceit. In the end, he finds his truth and a new vocation in marrying his soul mate, Lily. Hope and persistence always lead to redemption.
