Everyone knows DAISY JONES & THE SIX, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it's the rock 'n' roll she loves most. By the time she's twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she's pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

Great read

Of all the books I have read by this author, this one is my favorite. It’s a really good story. Engaging, great characters, great plot. Highly recommend.

not so good

Story wanders around without much purpose.

Very unique format for a book-makes for an excellent read.

Written in a format that mimics an “interview with the band”. Easy to read and enjoy! Nothing too heavy, but also, it feels realistic and raw. Love the multiple storyline it feeds you.

Interesting book!

I listened to the audio book with a full cast which made it more interesting. I liked the book but didn't love it. There were so many character povs that it made it hard to really connect to any one character.

4 stars

DAISY JONES & THE SIX by Taylor Jenkins Reid I tend to avoid overly popular books, but I feel the hype has died down enough for me an unbiased opinion/rating. I loved the documentary/interview format especially as an audiobook with a full cast. The band’s story unfolded through their unreliable/emotional/biased perspectives seamlessly. It was easy to spot where the miscommunication began, how things evolved and then unraveled. That said, I can’t say I liked any of them other than Karen. You’re supposed to like and empathize with Daisy, but she came off as selfish and whiny. Also, Camila deserved better! All in all, this one mostly lived up to the hype for me. Recommend if you’re one of the few who has not read it yet. [ 🎧 : The cast performances and production made this such a fun and immersive listen/read. ] Rating: 4/5 ⭐️

Absolutely loved this book. I was not sure at first how the layout was if I would like that, but I f

It’s a book for adults for sure. With all the drugs, alcohol and partying. I wouldn’t want my teen reading it.

I should’ve liked it but I didn’t

I was excited about this book! In theory I should’ve loved it… The time period, the music, the wild child heroine. I didn’t care for it at all! It reads like the author knows very little about the music industry and just filled the book with lazy cliched dialogue and “rock star” situations. It was also very predictable and the effort, put in, to constantly convey Daisy’s “beauty” was monotonous and cringy.

Loved It

I love the Amazon series and now I love the book (which isn't much different, but just enough). I wasn't expecting it to be written in the form of oral history / script / however you prefer to phrase it, but I love that it was. I need more books like this one

Great book

I love this book but I was a teenager in the 70s so that might have quite a bit to do with it. I don’t think there will ever be another decade to match it musically or otherwise. I fell right into the story and found it hard to put down. All the characters were very believable.

Kind of disappointed

I really wanted to like this story but I didn't find it as amazing as everyone else. I didn't really like the story until the last 50 pages or so.

Didn't get the hype

I enjoyed the book to an extent but I definitely didn't see the hype. I believe that TJR has better books out there than this one.

Flew through it — SO good

My best friend sent me this book for Christmas and it took me a couple of months to get into it but when I did, I read it in a day—it was so good. I’ve never read a book like this before and I loved every second.

Amazing

Reid has a way of writing stories that make you understand every character in the book. 10/10

Loved it

At first it was slow, it took me forever to get into it, but a little before halfway through, the book grabbed me. I loved the tension between the characters and the way the story unfolded in the end. It was different than anything else I’ve read recently and I thoroughly appreciate the change of pace.
