Second Grade is on the horizon and young learners will have fun preparing for it with Daily Summer Activities, Moving from First to Second Grade. The many exercises it contains, while brief, add just... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is the second year that I've purchased this series for my daughter to keep her on track during the summer break from school. Although I've used several different series for her, this one is the most comprehensive. I like the fact that the workbook is organized on a weekly basis, so that she knows exactly which lesson she needs to be doing on which day. I also like the interactive lessons, such as cooking and crafts that are included. It allows your child to participate in fun activities that are also educational--they are asked to comment on the activity after they finish. My daughter really likes this series and there isn't any complaining about having to do "school" work during the summer--a definite recommendation coming from a 7 year old! The only disappointment I have is that the 1st to 2nd grade book seems to be a little on the easier side, especially in the area of math. Other than that, I'm very happy with this series and it definitely helps parents supplement any other educational activities that they may have planned during the summer.
Summer Learning Fun

Organized by the week with daily activities this is the ideal solution to the summer doldrums. I leave it out and the children spontaneouely want to "play". The material is appropriate, the segments are manageable for our delayed child; our typically developing folks work until they are tired of it. The book includes math, spelling, writing, reading and reading comprehension. It won't last the summer I fear; what a nice problem to have.

now don't get me wrong I like this book because it keeps my daughter busy over summertime and her brain active however some of the stuff is almost Kindergarten Level. Don't expect your kids to learn anything new from this book! The book I believe is more in the sense that your child won't forget what it has learned in the previous year. I still think its a great book very colorful and I also like how it is put together on a week by week basis with Diary of what your child did everyday and book record so you can see how much your child has been reading each day/ week.
reinforces some subject areas better than others

I purchased this book and the K to 1st grade book for my son who will be entering the 1st grade. I thought the math portion of the K to 1st book was too easy which is the main reason why I also bought this one. For a true 1st to 2nd grader, this book should provide good reinforcement in the all areas other than math.
excellent for summer review

These books are excellent for summer reviews. I use them every summer. I even bought one for my nephew who stayed at my house for extended periods this summer. Most kids can complete the two pages in about 15 minutes.
