As a kindergarten teacher, I shared with my parents during orientation night that when you ask your kindergartener at the end of the day, "What did you do today?", you'll likely get answers like "I don't remember," "I played on the slide at recess," "I had PE," or "I sat by my friend at lunch." But trust me, we did so much more than that in our 7.5 hours of kindergarten That's when I came up with the idea of Daily Dinner Chats. It was a way to invite the parents into our day while also encouraging families to sit down and have dinner together. While they ate, we'd share a little tidbit about something we learned that day. This gave parents a chance to spark the conversation, reinforce the concepts, and have deeper conversations with their families.
