Daddy's Girl

"I'm going to tell you now that I am what people call a racist and I'm proud of it Nothing we can do here today will change that. That is how I was raised. This is what I am." These are the words of Paul Adams which have set the tone for the life of his daughter Michal who has unknowingly married a closet black. Her husband, Davd Mac has the look of a white but carries also the genes of a black, a secret he has kept from his new wife and, of course, her father. All is revealed in the birth of their daughter, Peg. Paul Adams attempts to remedy the situation by breaking up the marriage. Michal struggles between the desire to support her husband and and her own unwelcome but culturally embedded racism. David Mac is left to deal with the guilt over his deception. Little Peg must deal with her grandfather's racism. The intrigues and plots of their struggles move them from Boston to the plains and mountains of Eastern Colorado and Western Utah as they attempt to rescue themselves from their impossible situation.
