In December 1920 Lawrence and his wife Frieda decided to live in Taormina. In Sicily he wrote poems and books.. He was immediately fascinated by the landscape, the people and the volcano . He wrote to one of his friend " Etna is a beautiful mountain, far lovelier than Vesuvius".
