Impact Zone: The most dangerous part of the wave You gotta beat it...or you'll eat it. Ever since he went up against the locals and broke into the lineup, Kai has had his own crew. Spazzy is a summer kid with a lot of fancy gear. He looks like a total shubee. But on the board he's good, really good -- despite everything going against him. The Spazz wants to be in the local competition, but he can't do it without Kai. Kai knows there's no way Spazzy can win against Lucas, the local hero. But Kai would never let a brah down....
This sequel to Take Off: The Impact Zone has definitely more heart. Kai gets more involved in the competition surfing world reluctantly but finds it can possibly be ok. Then there's the new character Spazzy who definitely brings your heart to care about Kai and Spazzy and his friends. There's still tons about surf in this book, but the characters' relationships have definitely developed and turned into something fully awesome. A connection between friends like a connection between Kai and the waves 'that ride him' according to his philosophy. Any who, there is tons of heart in this book while keeping the main topic of surfing in the foreground. A good read for when it starts to drizzle. Just make sure you've read the first one first to truly get stoked over this book.
