Customer Service may be the de facto worst career option of the 21st century. Luckily for Derek Gilan, he has a few aces up his sleeve, enough charm to survive the bitter office workers, and just enough bad judgment to have a little fun along the way.
Fresh out of high school, Derek takes what is supposed to be a stepping-stone job. Instead, it becomes the beginning of a wandering adulthood filled with dead-end work, awkward romance, office politics, and one long fight to prove he is worth more than his paycheck.
Derek wants the American Dream: a stable career, someone to build a life with, and the chance to become a respectable human being. But customer service has a way of grinding people down, and Derek has to figure out whether he can escape the rut before the rut becomes his whole life.
