Despite being seeped in centuries of myth and lore, the small English town of Helvetia has never been all that exciting.
Not until last year, when a comet passed over the sky that a minority claimed gave them curses. A minority that were dismissed as madmen and fear-mongers. Sixteen-year-old Annika Carlisle, however, knows they were telling the truth.

But when a man seeking necromancy visits her godmothers, a chain of strange events is set into motion. Annika meets others pulled together amongst it all, and they soon start to realise that their mutual misfortune is a part of something much bigger than they ever could have imagined.
