Kimo, the Hawaiian pig and his friends go looking for guavas but almost get hurt because they didn't heed warnings from Kimo's mother. This description may be from another edition of this product.
My child came home from day care one day talking about a squirrel that her whole class had seen get hit by a car, it really impressed upon her my continuous warnings about parking lots and streets! So when we saw this book and the message was so familiar, we had to get it. It's nice that only a guava gets smooshed in this rendition, but the message is still as powerful, and I get to remind my little rebel that she has to listen to mommy! I really like this book. It's got great illustrations and a great message that is gently delivered. I recommend it highly. It's a nice way to reinforce those "mommy warnings". I also love the Hawaiian theme. I miss Hawaii since we moved away in the 80's, so its nice to "see" it again in Pat Hall's illustrations.
