The Book Most Responsible for Modern U.S.American Marijuana Cultivation

First book (and still one of the best) in English, in modern times, dedicated to cultivating cannabis as a social intoxicant.

The first U.S. American book about growing cannabis for use as a social intoxicant.

In 1970 Bill Drake's book The Cultivator's Handbook of Marijuana would change "homegrown" from being what you bought when you couldn't find any Mexican pot to the high-cannabinoid strains which have been developed in the U.S.since then, primarily on the Left Coast. He made U.S. Americans aware for the first time of the importance of separating the males and females to promote increased development of female flowers. According to Jack Herer, in conversation with this reviewer, it was Drake's book which got Herer interested in hemp's industrial applications. Read even just the first skinny little pamphletesque edition and you'll be amazed by how little has actually been added to the lexicon of cannabis cultivation in the nearly-forty years since The Cultivator's Handbook of Marijuana was first printed.

Extensive info but somewhat out of date

Look for the same title but "William Drake" as the autho

Extensive info but somewhat dated

Could do with updating. Too little emphasis on indoor growing techniques (HID lights, hydroponics) or out of date info (recommends incandescents in the light mix, etc)
