Archaeologist V. Garth Norman began research in 1965 on the Izapa, Chiapas, Mexico project with NWAF. While making accurate drawings of Izapa sculptures he discovered two standard measurements that ancient artisans used to create the art and architecture at Izapa. He compared these two standard measures from antiquities in other parts of the world and was surprised to find they precisely matched the ancient Royal Babylonian and Royal Egyptian cubits that date from the third millennium BCE. This data demonstrates that ancient travelers from the Middle East took their Babylonian and Egyptian cubit rods with them when they crossed oceans and lands to build new civilizations in Middle America, South and North America as well as throughout Asian countries and Islands. They also took their Middle Eastern geometric "Golden Mandala" with them and used that to create hieroglyphic art and picture writing.
